After Reading: Carol Emshwiller's 90th Birthday Party with Magic Brian and Matthew Cheney
We had a stupendous time at the 90th birthday part for legendary writer Carol Emshwiller!
The party was the second of two birthday events in Carol's honor, the first presented by The New York Review of Science Fiction at the SOHO Gallery for Digital Art on April 12th (Carol's actual birthday). More information about that event can be found at SF Scope.
The event also celebrated the release of The Collected Stories of Carol Emshwiller vol 1, an amazing collection encompassing decades of her work.
The evening began with comedy from official Carol Emshwiller birthday magician Magic Brian.
For more about Magic Brian's hilarious outrageous comedy magic and his performances in New York City and around the world, see his official website.
Finally, there was a long-form interview with Carol about her life and work by Science Fiction scholar Matthew Cheney.
Special thanks to Susan Emshwiller for her help with the camera work and Jenn Northington and everyone at WORD bookstore.
